Questions

Is Owl Radio free?

Yes. No account, no subscription, no ads. The shows come from public collections at the Internet Archive, and the background sounds are public-domain (CC0) recordings.

Can I listen with my phone screen off?

Yes. Add Owl Radio to your Home Screen, press play, then lock your phone. You can pause and resume from the lock screen.

Does it drain my battery?

Barely. Sounds load once and loop from memory, the app goes quiet when nothing is playing, and shows stream as small 64 kbps files.

Can I save my favorite sound mix?

Yes. Get the sliders how you like them, tap Save current mix and name it. Mixes stay on your device, and you can export them to a file to move them somewhere else.

Where do the shows come from?

Everything plays straight from the Internet Archive’s Old Time Radio and 78 rpm collections. Owl Radio doesn’t host or change any of it.
